Who better to lead us through these uncertain times and inspire renewed planning resolve in 2023, than Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP, Hon. ASLA, one of the nation’s most celebrated, innovative thinkers and Immediate Past President of the American Institute of Certified Planners? With more than 35 years of award-winning experience, he is internationally recognized for his leadership and contributions to contemporary planning issues. Now a principal with McAdams, a land planning and design firm, Mitchell specializes in comprehensive planning, placemaking, and implementation strategies, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Previously, he served as Commissioner for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, Chief Planning Officer for the City of Raleigh, NC, and President of the American Planning Association. He is the first Black American to be elected as President of APA and AICP.
